How MCHC Helps

MCHC is a member of KC’s childhood obesity collaborative, Weighing In.  This group brings together community members representing local health departments, schools, hospitals, insurance companies, youth groups, early child care providers and others interested in decreasing childhood obesity. The collaborative meets to promote educational opportunities, facilitates collaborative planning and action, and  provides a forum to discuss the progress being made to increase the proportion of Kansas City area children at a healthy weight.

The MCHC executive director, Susan McLoughlin, serves on the Steering Committee of this Collaborative.  MCHC leads prevention strategies focused on healthy weight pregnancies and breastfeeding through its respective committee activities in coordination with Weighing In.

Susan McLoughlin also serves on a panel of experts focused on infant mortality in Kansas. The vision of the Kansas Blue Ribbon Panel on Infant Mortality is to assure healthy babies for all Kansans through collaborative action for enhanced services, communitysupport, and policy advocacy.
